South Seas Ice Cream Company specialises in premium handcrafted gelato and sorbets. As all our Gelati and Sorbets are crafted in small batches, weekly, we have our 5 signiture flavours (as seen below) and we also add a special new flavours each week (follow our social media pages to see which new flavours we are creating each week).
We have meticulously curated a range of rich, indulgent flavours to specially cater to the refined palates of adults and passionate food enthusiasts. As our creations are undeniably adored by all ages, we also offer a delightful selection of kid-friendly options that will captivate the younger generation too.

Gelato
Hazlenut Gelato
Ingredients: Roasted Hazelnuts (10%), Milk (56%), Cream (14%), Sugar,
Skimmed Milk Powder, Glucose, Locust Bean Gum

Comment from our Gelato Maestro: Made with Tonda Gentile Trilobata hazelnuts (the best), gathered in the hills above Torino in the north of Italy, lightly roasted and crushed in their own oil, and sent to us. We put them straight into our fiore di latte (milk and cream) gelato, and that’s it. A
mouthful of Italy. Probably our best gelato. If we ever enter an Ice Cream competition, this is the one we’ll enter.
Coconut Gelato
Ingredients: Milk 62%), Cream (16%), Skimmed Milk Powder, Sugar, Glucose, Locust Bean Gum

Comment from our Gelato Maestro: My favourite. We had to make a coconut gelato with a company name like South Seas Ice Cream. Initially, we struggled to get a strong roasted coconut flavour amongst the 80% milk and cream of our fiore di latte base. So, we asked the Italians. The Italians don’t grow coconuts but they know about gelato, so they sent a coconut paste, which we put straight into our gelato. Perfect.
Vintage 1950s Milk & Cream Ice Cream
Ingredients: Milk (65%), Cream (12%), Sugar, Skimmed Milk
Powder, Gelatine, Glyceryl Monostearate

Comment from our Gelato Maestro: This is an original 1950 industrial recipe from Peerless Ice Cream, Whanganui. We make it exactly how the recipe was written, with precisely the same ingredients, and an age appropriate (1960) ice cream machine. This is the ice cream our parents and grandparents would have eaten. It’s milk and cream, no other flavour. It’s not vanilla; it tastes of milk and cream, it’s ice cream flavoured ice cream. You may wish to try this time capsule of a treat out of curiosity. It’s also a great base for fresh fruit.
Sorbet

Chocolate & Vodka Sorbet
Ingredients: Water, Sugar, Vodka (ABV: 2.32%), Whittaker’s Dark Ghana Chocolate (10%), Premium Dutch Cocoa (7%), Espresso, Vanilla Extract, Pacific Sea Salt

Comment from our Gelato Maestro: Probably the creamiest sorbetto we’ve ever made. Much more like a full-fat gelato than a sorbetto, the vodka helps here. Made with Whittaker’s Dark Ghana Chocolate, 72% cocoa from Ghanaian cocoa beans that are 100% Rainforest Alliance Certified. Kiwi made chocolate together with Kiwi made vodka.
Lemon & Lime Sorbet
Ingredients: Lemon Juice (20%), Lime Juice (2%), Lemon & Lime
Zest, Water, Sugar, Glucose, Locust Bean Gum.
